Happy New Year

Hi, just a quick post to wish you all a very Happy New Year .....

In this card I have teamed the Great Sport stamp set with some Venetian Romance designer papers. I took my colour scheme from the papers and used tangerine tango with island indigo.

My best wishes to you all for 2014.

Great Sport with Clockworks

Hello, one more card to share with you before the festivities begin.

I think we all find it a lot easier to make 'girly' cards so today here is one for the boys .....

I recently purchased the Great Sport stamp set to make a card for my son-in-law who has just turned 30, and have also been playing around with some stamps from the Clockworks set to make a background.

For the background on today's card, I have repeatedly stamped the larger grunge style stamp from Clockworks with smoky slate ink onto whisper white card, then stamped swirls from the smaller grunge stamp in the set with black staz-on ink in two opposite corners. I have inked around the two stamped corners with old olive.

For the focal point of the card, the winged swirls stamp from Great Sport has been stamped in old olive onto whisper white card. The football stamped in black staz-on on to spare piece of card, punched out and smudged with old olive ink. The banner and sentiment have also been stamped on to spare card and cut out.

To finish I added a black star (which you can either stamp and cut out, or colour over the green star if you have a steady hand) and fixed two silver brads to the smaller stars.

Due to the fact that postage is now more expensive if you have lots of depth to your card I am trying not to add too many layers but give the illusion of depth with sponging edges etc. The only part of this card that has been raised on foam pads is the football and the sentiment.

May I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a I look forward to catching up with you in the New Year.

Summer Silhouettes inspired by Designer Fabric

Hello, hopefully all your Christmas cards are finished and posted, or ready to hand out to friends and relatives.Time to start thinking about some thank you cards.

Showing a really simple design today inspired by the fabric of a chair and lampshades in my home, see if you recognise it .....

I stamped the seed heads in black Staz-on ink and added some detail with a black permanent marker. I then used a mask made from a circle punch and sponged colours of cherry cobbler and crumb cake on to the seed heads. The sentiment from Perfectly Penned has also been stamped in black Staz-on.

The base card is cherry cobbler and the stamping layer is very vanilla. I have used a large corner rounder on one corner of the card to add some interest to the design.

Have a good weekend - and if like me you are a Strictly fan, enjoy the final tomorrow.

Thinlits Festive Flurry

Showing a card today which has been die cut with one of the THINLITS card dies to make a 'swing' card. The central image swings as you open the card, but unfortunately the picture does not show that very clearly.

I like the colours of this card which are cherry cobbler for the card and smoky slate ink for stamping.

Items used:
Thinlits Circle Card Die, Festive Flurry stamps and die set, silver and red Glimmer Paper, Winter Frost speciality designer paper, Basic Gems.

Have a good day.

Christmas Messages - Oh What Fun!

Hello, showing a card today using sentiments from the Christmas Messages stamp set. This is a very quick card to make.

The messages have been stamped all around turning the card as you go, with one message as a focal point in the centre.

I have also used a bauble stamp from the Very Merry Tags stamp set, and my colours are real red and old olive. I added a layer of gold from the foil sheets available in the Seasonal Catalogue.

Happy stamping.

Special Season

Hello again, showing a simple card today using the Special Season stamp set.

For the effect of the trees fading into the background I have used first, second and third generation stamping, in other words stamped all three trees without re-inking my stamp. I then stamped a fourth tree separately on spare card and cut it out. This fourth tree has been stuck directly to the card, but you could use foam pads for a more raised effect.

The colours for my card are old olive, real red and whisper white with some champagne glimmer paper stars.

Festive Flurry Simply Created

Hello again. Following on from yesterday here is my second card using elements from the Simply Created card kit.

As you can see I have again used a snowflake from the Festive Flurry stamps and die set to embellish the card with a sentiment from Christmas Messages.

Have a good week.

Festive Flurry with Gorgeous Grunge

It's been a while, but at last I have managed to make and upload a couple of cards and will be showing one today and the other tomorrow.

As well as using a snowflake from the Festive Flurry stamps and die set, I have also used stamps from Gorgeous Grunge.

The base card and decorative paper are from the Merry Little Christmas Simply Created Card Kit and I have taken my colour scheme of coastal cabana and real red from the kit.

See you tomorrow.

Festive Flurry with Winter Frost Papers

Hello,

The exterior of our property is being painted at the moment and I have just been outside with cups of tea for the painters. Although it is a bright day here in Netheravon it is really cold in the wind, and so I think it appropriate to show a card using the Winter Frost Designer Papers.

The layout for this card was a suggestion given to demonstrators by SU. I like to use papers cut in this way but have always put them vertically or horizontally on my cards, so I like this idea with the strips placed at an angle and crossing over at the top.

For my base card and for the large snowflake I have used the Brushed Silver card stock. The smaller snowflake has been stamped using Island Indigo ink onto Coastal Cabana card and then die cut. The Festive Flurry stamps and framelit dies are available on page 30 of the Seasonal Catalogue and can be purchased together as a bundle saving 15% on the individual prices. Add a gem to the centre of the snowflake and your are finished.

Christmas Messages - Deck the Halls

Hello again, sharing two more cards today using sentiments from the Christmas Messages set in the seasonal catalogue. A lovely set of nine stamps with some really attractive sentiments to use as a focal point on your cards plus and some simple verses for your inserts.

Both cards also feature the Christmas Collectibles ornament stamps and punch. On the second card below I have used strips of washi tape and glimmer paper.

My colour scheme for both cards is old olive and cherry cobbler.

Christmas Card Workshop

Recently my Stampin' Up downline Mary and myself held a Christmas Card Making Workshop which was a great success.

We had a lovely day with delicious cakes made by Mary and all day beverages prepared by my daughter Amy in personalised mugs (Mary had made a tag for each crafter to go on the handle of their mug).  The raffle prizes included Stampin' Up goodies together with some decorated gift boxes containing sweets and home made sparkly cookies baked by Amy. Each cookie was impressed with a snowflake design using the Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps (page 160 of the annual catalogue).

I am just going to show two of my cards from the day, as I feel it would not be fair to the ladies who paid to attend the workshop to show more than that. This first card is traditional in style and colour .....

I have used the new Gold Metallic Encore ink pad (pg 28 Seasonal Catalogue) to stamp a border of swirls with a stamp from Clockworks (pg 109 Annual Catalogue). The Christmas tree with its gold baubles is from the Warmth & Wonder hostess stamp set in the Seasonal Catalogue.

I have used Cherry Cobbler for the base card, with Very Vanilla for the stamping layer and mounted this onto some Brushed Gold card (pg 156 Annual Catalogue).

My second card, more modern in style and colour .....

I have used the beautiful Bermuda Bay ink for all the stamping on this card. The base card is Smoky Slate and the card trim at the top is Coastal Cabana with a strip of silver Glimmer Paper added.

Have a good weekend all.

Christmas Collectibles and Winter Frost Papers

Showing a Christmas Card today with 'flags' made from the beautiful Winter Frost Speciality papers.

I embossed a strip of the base card using an embossing folder from a pack of two called Delicate Designs, which is for embossing card edges. I used a substantial white card blank so that the card did not 'crumple' around the embossing.

The bauble from Christmas Collectibles has been stamped in Bermuda Bay ink and cut out with the Christmas Bauble punch. The sentiment was stamped with Bermuda Bay ink onto the same colour card. A very fine strip of Silver Glimmer Paper represents the string of the bauble.

The stamp set, punch and papers are all available in the new Seasonal Catalogue (see the right hand side of my blog).

I used foam dimentionals to fix the bauble and the sentiment with 'flags' to the card.

Very Merry Tags Christmas Card

Hello,

Today's card is a very quick and easy one for Christmas. I got the idea from another SU demonstrator who made this in pretty floral colours for a birthday present style card, and thought that this tag stamp from Very Merry Tags was ideal for a Christmas version.

To make the card I cut out a piece of Sahara Sand card to exactly fit the front of an A6 card and then cut the Sahara Sand card into four pieces. I stamped two sections in Gumball Green and two sections in Real Red using an image from the Flower Shop stamp set. I then stuck the sections on to the base card and added some strips of Glimmer Paper to represent ribbon on the 'present'.

Have a good week.

Summer Silhouettes for Christmas!

Hello,

I recently purchased a white StazOn ink pad with Christmas cards in mind. StazOn inks in black and white are available from SU on page 165 of the Annual catalogue. This is a very quick card I came up with.

All stamped in white StazOn onto Night of Navy card - this actually looks a brighter blue but I think it is due to the way I took my photo. The card is a small square of 10cm. The sentiment has been layered onto some Silver Glimmer Paper and I have added Dazzling Details (clear) to the seed heads. The 'snow'  is a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.

Summer and Serene Silhouettes

Good morning,

Using both the Summer Silhouettes and Serene Silhouettes for my card today.

To make this card I used a 13.5 cm cream card base and added a mat of Pumpkin Pie, and then stamped the main images and sentiment onto a Very Vanilla card layer using Smoky Slate and Black StazOn inks. I stamped flower heads in Pumpkin Pie and Pool Party onto spare card and cut them out, fixing them onto the 'stalks' with foam pads to add dimension. A tiny pearl just adds a finishing touch to the flowers.

The 'Happy Birthday' sentiment is from Perfectly Penned.

Have a good weekend.

Serene Silhouettes with Everything Eleanor

Hi again,

News from Stampin' Up is that the Big Shot Magnetic Platform is now available to order. This is on page 184 of the Annual Catalogue and is priced at £35.95 which I know is quite a lot of money but it is really useful when cutting out stamped images with your Framelits and Edgelits or any other metal die.

Now for today's card....

which uses an image from one of my favourite set of stamps Serene Silhouettes, and the beautiful swirl from Everything Eleanor.

I stamped the image in black StazOn ink (available from Stampin' Up) and then using a water brush painted a very light wash of Pool Party ink around the seed heads. The centre of the seed heads have been given a wash of Summer Starfruit ink.

The base card is Pool Party and I have used Island Indigo ink to stamp the swirl.

Morning Meadow

Hi,

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but just been pleasantly busy with family and visitors.

Showing a card today using the Morning Meadow hostess stamp set. However, you could easily reproduce this using any swirl stamp and a flower from the Flower Shop stamp set.

Ooops! I obviously forgot to crop this photo so you have quite a lot of my table in there.

I have used Raspberry Ripple for the base card and Summer Starfruit for the card border, and used the same two colours of ink to stamp my images onto Whisper White card.

Back soon with another idea.

Mosaic Madness Bundle

I am pleased to say that Stampin' Up are now shipping the Mosaic punch which has been out of stock for a while. With that in mind I am now going to show a couple of bright cheerful cards using the punch and matching stamps.

For the above card I have punched out mosaic shapes from the new Brights Paper Stack and arranged them on the card with a few candy dots.

And the second sample.....

More stamping in this card using the Mosaic Madness stamp set.

Colours used for both cards are Tempting Turquoise and Pumpkin Pie.

Designer Series Paper Stacks

Hello and apologies, to those of you who regularly follow my blog, for the lack of posts lately.

I was going to show a couple of cards using the Mosaic Bundle of stamps and punch, but as the punch is currently out of stock I felt it would be unfair to tease you, so instead showing a fun card using strips of paper from the new Brights Designer Series Paper Stack.

Colours used here are Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise. The 'flame' is cut with the Bird Builder punch and is the bird's wing. Add few dots of Dazzling Details Silver Sparkle to the flames and a sentiment - this one is from the stamp set Bring on the Cake.

Best of Butterflies and Grab your Greetings

Hello,

I had a lovely day on Saturday with an Open House Event to launch the fabulous new catalogue. Everyone who came along could complete a couple of quick make'n'takes (a bit squashed at the table!), but I think a good morning was had by all. Further down this post I will show you some cards I made to show my guests on Saturday.

A little bit of news from Stampin Up. Firstly the Best of 25 Years stamp set for July is a lovely set of butterflies, click this link to see the details. These Best of 25 Year stamp sets are available from their launch month until the 31st March 2014 or while stocks last.

And secondly, Grab your Greetings - there are 3 sets of greeting stamps from the new catalogue (they were also in the previous catalogue) which can be purchased at a discount of 25% from now until the 31st July, details of the sets here. I think a greeting is the finishing touch on a card.

Here are three cards I have made using the new Soho Subway Designer papers. Picture quality not that good, lots of shadow, but here goes .....

I have used the new colour Crisp Cantaloupe for the base card and to stamp the sentiment on this one. The swirl is stamped in Early Espresso. The sentiment is a new stamp set Label Love and has a matching punch Artisan Label.

The base card above is a new colour Baked Brown Sugar and the background is CrumbCake embossed with a new folder Modern Mosiac. The embellishments have been made with the Mosaic punch and a small stamp from the Mixed Bunch set.

And on this final card showcasing the Soho Subway papers, the greeting is again from the Label Love stamp set and the Artisan Label punch. The numbers paper has been embossed with the Houndstooth folder and the base card is Island Indigo.

Best of Flowers - Bouquet

Here is my fourth and final card in this Best of Flowers series.

As in the previous cards I have used Staz-on ink to stamp the images, and coloured the flowers and leaves of the bouquet with markers.

The base card is Pink Pirouette covered with paper from the current Designer Series Paper Stack. The patterns are are changing on these stacks in the new catalogue and will be available in each of the refreshed colour ways, very exciting!

Details of the Best of Flowers 25th Anniversary set for June can be found here. There will be another 25th Anniversary set of stamps launched in July, so watch this space.

Best of Flowers - Daisy

My third card in this current set from Best of Flowers released this month, details here, uses the pretty little daisy head. Very useful as the 1 1/4" scallop punch fits it perfectly.

For the background panel I stamped daisies onto Whisper White card using black Staz-on ink. I stamped more daisies onto spare card and cut them out with the punch as above, inking the edges and colouring the centres with Pink Pirouette ink and marker pen. The leaves are punched with the three step bird punch. The second and third daisies are fixed to the front panel with foam dimensionals, tucking the leaves under, adding a few pearls to finish.

Back soon, with the fourth and final card in this set.

Have a good week.

Best of Flowers - Daisy Silhouettes

Here is my second card using the daisy silhouette from the Best of Flowers stamp set.

This is a 12cm square card, and the silhouette daisies have been stamped in black Staz-on ink. To make it easy to line up the images I stamped the daisies once in the bottom left hand corner of the topper, turned the card stock clockwise and stamped again in bottom left hand corner, turn again and stamp again etc.

I used Whisper White card for stamping and dabbed colour onto the card using Pink Pirouette ink and the large stamping sponge.

Card used: Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Basic Black, Silver Glimmer Card.

To see the Best of Flowers Stamp Set, please click here.

Back in a few days with my third card.

Best of Flowers - Hydrangea

Over the next couple of weeks I will be showing some cards made with a new set of stamps launched by Stampin' Up in celebration of their 25th Anniversary. A new Best of 25 Years stamp set will be released each month from June until October (5 in total) and they will be available until March 2014. Each set will have 3 - 5 images and will contain 1 new image with the others being favourites from the last quarter century. The sets are all clear mount and cost £13.95. To see the full set of stamps click here.

The June Best of 25 Years set is called Best of Flowers, and here is my first sample with apologies for the picture quality, I need a lesson in photography!

I stamped a pastel background with Pink Pirouette ink and the hydrangea image from the set. I then stamped the hydrangea again using black Staz-on ink onto a Whisper White card topper, and coloured this with markers. I added colour around the main image by dabbing on some Pink Pirouette ink using one of the large stamping sponges.

Card colours:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Pink Pirouette
Inks:  Pink Pirouette, Black Staz-on
Markers:  Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery

Serene Silhouettes with Everything Eleanor

My card today is a  style I have seen recently referred to as an A Z fold card.

And taken from another angle I think you can see why it is so called.

My base card is 14cm square and the front has been folded in half (as you would for an easel card) but so that the front folds back on itself, rather than being folded inwards. The card will fold flat for posting, but when displayed the front panel is tucked under the embellishment. To raise the embellishment enough to be able to tuck the front panel under I have used two layers of dimensional foam pads on top of each other behind the right hand side of the scallop circle (leave the left side free of foam pads). It would also be a good idea to use two scallop circles stuck together to strengthen the embellishment so that it doesn't bend when tucking the panel behind.

Colours: Certainly Celery, Rose Red and Marina Mist
Stamps: Serene Silhouettes and Everything Eleanor
Punches: 1 3/8" circle, 1 3/4" scallop circle and Bitty Butterfly
Embossing Folder: Vintage Wallpaper

Back soon.

Patio Party - mini cards

Hello and welcome to another week.

Showing some mini cards today (10cm square), using the Patio Party Designer Papers. The papers speak for themselves so on a small card you don't really need much more than a sentiment.

For the above two cards I have used .....
Stamps: Curly Cute sentiments
Ink: Summer Starfruit
Punches: Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly

And for this one .....
Stamps: Bring on the Cake
Ink: Black StazOn
Markers: Raspberry Ripple and Summer Starfruit

Next time I will show you an AZ fold card I have been making this afternoon (after doing lots of housework of course).

Print Poetry - Birthday Cards

Hello,

I notice it has been exactly one month since I last put anything on my blog. My apologies, but I have some wonderful news. I now have a gorgeous new grandson Harry, sister to our beautiful grand-daughter Daisy.

I have been putting together some cards using mainly papers and sentiment stamps. I like to use papers in my card making and then take my colour scheme from the papers, but using the large 12 x 12 inch sheets can be a bit awkward sometimes. However, the Print Poetry designer paper pad used here is only 4.5 x 6.5 inches so is much easier to use for card making and mini books, and has 48 sheets in total (12 double sided designs with 4 sheets of each). It features in the Spring/Summer mini priced at £6.25 and will be available until the 30th June 2013.

My base card is Raspberry Ripple, layered with Black and Very Vanilla.

A second card .......

Same colour card as above with the addition of some Summer Starfruit.

I used the Delicate Doilies Sizzlits Large  to die cut the fancy circles and a 1 3/4" scallop punch for the smaller one.

Stamp sets used: Artistic Etchings, Mixed Bunch.

Fine Feathers

Hello, I had a lovely day yesterday in the sunshine at Dorchester and West Bay, and so this afternoon down to some card making.

I am showing two cards today made with the Fine Feathers stamp set. On the first one I stamped in black onto the back of a piece of the Natural Composition Designer Series Paper. Although called paper it is actually heavy enough to use as a base card and the front has a mixture of printed designs which have been clear embossed, so it is a very versatile item.

And on the second one I took my colour inspiration from a sample in the Annual Catalogue and used colours of Garden Green, Old Olive, Island Indigo and Pool Party for the stamping.

The base card colour is Old Olive with a mat of Island Indigo.

Will be back soon.

Nature Walk Butterfly with French Foliage

Hello,

Hope you are having a good Easter Weekend. I have been playing around with smudging inks and backgrounds today and here is one of the cards I made.

Stamps used:  Butterfly from Nature Walk, Text stamp and Ink Splodges from French Foliage
Card:  Melon Mambo, Black
Inks:  Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Summer Starfruit, Basic Grey, Black

Unusual for me not to have a sentiment but I just couldn't decide where to put one and I think it looks better without.

Weekend Workshop

Hello, just a quick post today showing two cards from a workshop hosted by a lovely friend Julie at the weekend.

I demonstrated a background technique using an embossing folder. I have not embossed this but just opened out the folder, inked the raised side and then pressed this onto a piece of very vanilla card. As this has not been embossed you can then stamp your design over the top.

The particular embossing folder used above is called Vine Street and is only available as part of the Sale-a-bration promotion until Friday 22nd March, details here. However, there are plenty of other embossing folders in the main catalogue from which you could achieve a similar effect.

My next card is one of the cards made at the workshop. This combines colours of black, white and pool party with a touch of bling added with the butterfly punched from the silver glimmer paper.

Have a good week.

Additional stamps used are the butterfly stamp from Creative Elements and the greeting from Vintage Verses which is part of the Sale-a-bration offer, details here.

The ink colour used to stamp the background, and the base card colour is Wisterior Wonder.

Clockworks 2

Hello again. Here is the second card in this mini series, using the 'Clockworks' background stamp.

The additional stamps on today's card are the seed heads and stem from Summer Silhouettes and the sentiment from Perfectly Penned.

Card and ink colours are Basic Black and Pretty in Pink.

I added three small pearls to the bottom of the stem.

Back soon with the last card in this set of three.
